General Information About Mysore

One of South India’s most famous tourist destinations, Mysuru (which recently changed its name from Mysore) is known for its glittering royal heritage and magnificent monuments and buildings. Its World Heritage–listed palace may be what brings most travellers here, but it’s also a thriving centre for the production of premium silk, sandalwood and incense. These days ashtanga yoga is another drawcard, attracting visitors worldwide with its reputation as one of India’s best places to practice yoga.

Mysore is noted for its palaces, including the Mysore Palace, and for the festivities that take place during the Dasara festival when the city receives a large number of tourists. It lends its name to the Mysore style of painting, the sweet dish Mysore Pak, the Mysore Peta (a traditional silk turban) and the garment known as the Mysore silk saree. Tourism is the major industry, while information technology has emerged as a major employer alongside the traditional industries. Mysore depends on rail and bus transport for inter-city connections. The city was the location of the first private radio station in India. Mysore houses Mysore University, which has produced several notable authors, particularly in the field of Kannada literature. Cricket is the most popular sport in the city.

DAY 3 : TRAVEL TO MYSORE AND SIGHTSEEING

DAY 4 : TRAVEL TO OOTY AND SIGHTSEEING

DAY 5 : SIGHTSEEING OF OOTY

After breakfast, visit amazing Rose Garden which has more than 20,000 varieties of roses, the very unusual Sim’s Park with numerous rare species of plants and fruits, an astonishing Dolphin’s Nose view point. Night at Ooty.

DAY 6 : TRAVEL TO WAYANAD AND SIGHTSEEING
